In the third quarter of 2021, the top five News and Magazines apps in Africa exhibited diverse trends in downloads and active users. Data from Sensor Tower provides a detailed look at their performance on a unified platform.

Opera News: breaking & local saw consistent growth in weekly downloads, starting from 112K at the beginning of the quarter and peaking at 153K by the end. Weekly active users also climbed steadily, starting at 3.7M and reaching around 4M by the end of September.

Similarly, Opera News Lite - Less Data experienced fluctuations in downloads, with a notable spike to 245K in the week of August 9. Active users began at 1.1M and saw a decline to approximately 994K by the end of the quarter.
